Success Tastes like Dried Cranberries and 2 AM Cheese Pizza

I know I still have stuff to do, but I feel done!

Last night I pretty much finished documentation. We had a big documentation party going late into the night, which was lots of fun. I may have to edit/add to it as I get people’s input and Garrity asks me questions, but it feels good to have a good draft done.

I’ve finished training my sponsor.

Garrity has signed off on the project.

Life is good.

Next up: answering Garrity’s questions, editing documentation, poster, and presentation!

Fa-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!

I started a to-do list on the Wiki today. As you can see, I only have two more checks to do for development, I’m well on my way to having user documentation, and I have no developer documentation (and don’t have most of the developer documentation tasks up).

Sorry for the missed posts!

For the past week, I’ve been putting the voice-over tracks into iMovie and also placing music in the appropriate places.

Today, I figured out in FinalCut how to make multiple pictures pop up on the screen and disappear at different times.

Tomorrow, I will be meeting with Tamra to go over more editing on the video.

Today was a day where I worked on trying to tie up the site. In terms of browser testing, we just have an alignment issue to deal with for Olga’s site. The function for creating tabs is turning out to be a bit more complicated than expected. I should tie that up tomorrow morning though.

Tonight, I will be working on writing up documentation for Olga’s website. I hope to complete documentation by tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Besides that, things are done.

I apologize for yesterday’s missed post- it’s been busy! Today was mostly spent on documentation. I started the the first pieces for all four projects- the description, requirements and check against requirements. I’m almost done with a general how to use wordpress document, which can be used for Africa, Pioneer Camp and Picturing Our Past. Azd is finished with documentation for the ning so I think we’re doing fairly well on documentation. Aayush is going to write documentation for contentDM for Picturing Our Past, as well as specific documentation for Pioneer Camp. This leaves me with documentation for Africa and Picturing Our Past, which I should be able to finish tomorrow. We also have a few browser-testing issues:

Pioneer Camp- google maps doesn’t appear in IE6, weird thumbnail alignment issues in all IEs

Africa- weird thumbnail alignment in IEs, one color doesn’t appear in IE6

Tomorrow’s aim will be to finish documentation for Africa and Picturing Our Past.

2. Finish browser testing for POP, and tag them.

3. Link up the map.

4. Comment the css code for Africa, POP, and Ningoooo.

I started some Documentation! (scroll down)

I have a to-do list for development that I’ve been working through, but since it’s very similar to the one I posted before, and I have to put the updated one on the wiki tomorrow it seems superfluous to write it here also. I’ll put up a link tomorrow.

Report 8/10

August 10th, 2009

This morning I worked on Africa. We are back to th old plain menu, got red of the accordion one, and fixed the css accordingly. We are officially done with Africa, except for the video thumbnails Bret is going to be working on tomorrow. I worked on the language toggle for Pioneer Camps. I think this one is also done after Aayush adds his final touches on the map.

Kate helped us with figuring out the comments for Picturing our Past. they work now. I finished css coding the rest of the website and we have all the pages up, but not complete at the moment. Kate also helped us with getting the files for the map on the old contentDM picturing our past website. We got it to work on word press, I just need to resize the photos to fit with the wordpress site. I am going to finish that up tomorrow.

To-Dos:

1. resize photos for the map, and link them up.

2. get the photos from contentDM for Picturing Our Past and put them up on the wordpress site.

3. a last round of browser testing for Africa and Picturing our Past.

4. help Bret with customizing contentDM.

I tried all morning to get the windroses to work.  Too bad I made absolutely no progress because we do not have TTF fonts installed on our webdev server.  I spent the entire morning reading documentation to try to find a fix.  I even messed around with the source code for the windrose graph class but could not get anything to work.  After lunch I looked through all my code and made a few things a little bit more dynamic while commenting everything.  Not a very productive day from an outsiders perspective, but that commenting had to get done at some point.  Now every single page is commented except the graphing page which is not yet completed.

Tomorrow I hope to be able to make the windroses and load in some javascript/CSS to make this site IE friendly.  I also would like to make some more progress on the JQuery datepicker front.
